Although I am doing this for functional reasons, I can't help but look forward to the cosmetic result. Below is my current profile along with the predicted profile after surgery. What a difference a chin makes!

PREDICTED PROFILE
Welcome to my blog! This blog will walk you through my orthognathic journey including braces and bimaxillary jaw surgery on September 9, 2008. My proposed treatment plan was Lefort I osteotomy, bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSO) with occlusal plane correction. More specifically, he did a one piece Lefort I with upper impaction and advancement and lower advancement and rotation(all with rigid fixation). I was banded and did not have a splint.

Found your blog in my research. I'm considering getting a consult. My jawline and chin look exactly like yours. I don't suffer from TMJ that I know of, but have some difficulty with breathing and swallowing.
I was surprised at how long all of this takes, and slightly discouraged because of it, but I will still make an appointment for a consult. I will need braces as I didn't have them when I was younger, but sheesh, this whole thing seems scary.
Thanks for sharing this with the world. You have to love the internet!
