Welcome to my blog! This blog will walk you through my orthognathic journey including braces and bimaxillary jaw surgery on September 9, 2008. My proposed treatment plan was Lefort I osteotomy, bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSO) with occlusal plane correction. More specifically, he did a one piece Lefort I with upper impaction and advancement and lower advancement and rotation(all with rigid fixation). I was banded and did not have a splint.

Great pre-op photos, Stephanie! I used to do the same thing, too (move my lower jaw forward)...
Your last statement got me puzzled (it really sounds like a riddle) - what's clear, has no particulates, and will make you feel full? My sarcastic self immediately wants to say "water!," but that doesn't seem to be too helpful!!! I'll keep thinking this one, through! Hope you're doing well!

Hey Stephanie...just a word of encouragement here - now that I'm pretty much recovered from the surgery, my facial muscles feel so relaxed now. Having a recessive lower jaw does put strain on the muscles. I don't think I was fully aware of that before the surgery, but now that it's gone, it's an entirely different experience. Hopefully this is something to look forward to!

Thanks for your comments, Michelle. It is like a riddle ... liquid with no particulates that makes you feel full. The closest thing I have found is the Kellogg's K20 Protein water ... it has 5 g of protein and 5 g of fiber per serving. It may help ... but don't know it will go so far as to make me feel "full". I just remember how desperate I was when I had the esophageal ulcers and couldn't eat for a week. I even was able to get some things down with particulates, and still felt like I was starving. I can only hope my appetite is diminished post-op. In the mean time, I have been eating everything in site for the last couple weeks :)
I think you'll be surprised how your body adjusts itself to the blended diet. The first couple of days you may not feel satisfied after drinking your meal, but you'll really start to get used to it.
It got to the point where I had gotten so used to a blended diet, that after eating a soft meal (like a grilled cheese sandwich), I would have a smoothie to feel full.
Don't worry, you'll be fine!
